IPL 2018: Heres the list of Top 5 overseas unsold players of mega-auction in Bengaluru
In the past 10 seasons of the widely-acknowledged Indian Premier League (IPL) we have witnessed plenty of drama taking place in the auction room which further saw the emerging players grabbing the attention of the bidders to become overnight millionaires and this time around many exciting players were brought to the table to see witness the franchises right into the bidding war as plenty of overseas unsold players rose the eyebrows.
The eight-team tournament saw the distinct managements converging this time around to pick the best squad as possible while taking the purses into due consideration.
Moreover, the eleventh edition of the IPL auction witnessed 580 players in the list which subsequently saw 361 from India being the focus of attention.
However, the two-day auction witnessed overall 169 players were sold in which 56 are overseas cricketers against the amount of overall INR 4,31,70,00,000.
Heres the list of overseas players who were ignored during the interesting auction which saw youngsters breaking into the fold.
1. Joe Root INR 1.5 crore:
As English cricketers have become the hottest property of the IPL since past many editions, it has further witnessed some top-notch cricketers being overlooked not because of their incompetence but all because of the glitz to be precise.
Interestingly, the Test skipper of England, Root, who is the batting mainstay of his national side further made himself available in the auction at the base price of INR 1.5 crore.
Root could have been the player when it comes to the stability and could have proven imperative when teams are in the dire straits.
The 27-year-old Yorkshire-based Root featured in 25 T20Is for England which saw him scoring 743 runs at the average of 39.10 and further collected four fifties.
2. Shaun Marsh INR 1.5 crore:

The treat to watch when it comes to the longer version of the game, Hashim Amla has further broken a slew of records in the limited-overs cricket and in particular 50-over format but the right-handed batsman was snubbed during the IPL auction 2018 in Bengaluru.
The prominent batsman Amla made his entry in the IPL for Punjab-based franchise Kings XI Punjab in 2016 when Shaun Marsh was ruled out due to injury, however, he managed to play just six matches for the team.
In 2017, Amla had a remarkable IPL season which further saw him scoring 420 runs in 10 matches at the average of staggering 60 which included two hundreds and two fifties.
In overall 16 matches, Amla scored 577 runs at an average of 44.38 and maintained the strike-rate of 141.76.
It was surely a big miss for the franchises.

The right-handed batsman set his base price of 75 lakh which further saw him featuring in 10 IPL matches so far across two editions.
The top-order batsman Guptill played just three in 2016 after being roped in by Mumbai Indians before joining King XI Punjab in the tenth edition which saw him playing seven games.
In 10 IPL outing, Guptill scored 189 runs which included a solitary fifty at the average of 21.
5. Lasith Malinga INR 1 crore:
The Galle-based 34-year-old Lasith Malinga has been a strong force to reckon in the Twenty20 format which further saw him sending down the toe-crushing yorkers.
Having the huge experience on his back, Malinga has been the prominent bowler when it came to the death bowling, as the Sri Lankan professional represented distinct franchises across the globe.
Doing the justice, Malinga in 68 T20Is for the Lions saw him bagging 90 wickets at an average of 19.77 which saw him claiming the best figures of five for 31.
